Answers to the most common questions about Hydrogene
General
What is Hydrogene?
Hydrogene is a professional fertilizer calculator and smart grow diary platform designed for growers who demand precision. It helps you build custom nutrient recipes, manage cultivation cycles, and track plant health with data-driven insights.
Is Hydrogene free to use?
Yes. Hydrogene offers a free plan that gives you access to the core tools with monthly usage limits. Paid plans unlock higher limits and additional features. See our pricing page for details.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Hydrogene is fully web-based. Just sign up at hydrogene.pro and start using it from any modern browser.
What browsers are supported?
Hydrogene works on all modern browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. We recommend keeping your browser up to date for the best experience.
Account & Plans
How do I create an account?
Click Sign Up on the homepage, enter your email address, and follow the verification steps. Once your email is confirmed, you can log in and start using the platform.
What happens when I reach my monthly limit?
You will see an upgrade prompt when you hit the limit for your current plan. Your existing data is never deleted — you simply cannot create new resources until the next billing cycle or you upgrade.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan at any time?
Yes. Plan changes take effect immediately. If you upgrade mid-cycle you gain access to higher limits right away.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel at any time from your account settings. You keep access to your current plan until the end of the billing period.
Fertilizers & Recipes
What is a fertilizer blend?
A blend is a custom mix of one or more fertilizer products combined in specific ratios. Hydrogene calculates the resulting nutrient profile (N-P-K, EC, pH impact) so you know exactly what you are feeding your plants.
Can I import fertilizers that are not in the library?
Yes. You can create custom fertilizers by entering the guaranteed analysis from the product label. Custom fertilizers count toward your plan’s monthly quota.
How are PPM and EC calculated?
Hydrogene uses standard conversion factors for each ion (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, sulfur, and micronutrients) to compute parts per million from your blend ratios and target volume. EC is estimated from total dissolved solids using the standard 0.64 conversion factor.
Can I use Hydrogene for soil growing, not just hydroponics?
Yes. The calculator works for any growing medium. You can adjust target nutrient ranges and feeding schedules to suit soil, coco, or hydroponic systems.
Cultivation Cycles & Grow Diaries
What is a cultivation cycle?
A cultivation cycle is a complete grow from start to finish. Inside a cycle you log events (transplant, training, harvest), record measurements (EC, pH, temperature, humidity), and attach feed charts to each growth stage.
Can I share my grow diary with others?
Sharing features are on the roadmap. Currently grow diaries are private to your account.
How long is my grow data stored?
Your data is stored as long as your account is active. Deleting your account permanently removes all associated data.
Privacy & Security
Is my grow data private?
Yes. Your data is visible only to you. Hydrogene does not sell or share your personal data with third parties.
How is my password stored?
Passwords are hashed with Argon2id — a memory-hard algorithm recommended for password storage — and are never stored in plain text.
Can I export my data?
Data export is planned for a future release. In the meantime, contact us at contact@hydrogene.pro if you need a manual export.
